Vegetarian Atkins Diet Lowers Heart Risks: study

VegetarianMonday news revealed a new fact to people that vegetarian version of low-carb Atkins diet may help people to lose their body weight and also lowers the levels of bad cholesterol in the body. This news was revealed by Canadian researchers after a small, one month study. The report also said that this low-carb diet that makes use of plant proteins also reduces the level of low-density lipoproteins that is the primary cause of heart attack in people.

The traditional Atkins diet where people cut out carbohydrates and eat lot of meat was useful that it reduced the cholesterol and blood pressure in the body. It also raised the level of High density lipoprotein (HDL) but it also increases the level of LDL. Thus researchers tried the same diet with only vegetables and fruits and were successful in their attempt. The team led by Dr. Jenkins was responsible for this research and had provided a fruitful result to those who tend to lose weight with reduced risks of heart attacks.
